| ok, i've already posted this a bunch of places, but i can't forget about my own blog, can i? it's a short little video that dave & i made last night, after i walked in the susan g. komen race for the cure, in honor of my friend & colleague, paola, who's recovering from breast cancer. it's a short & sweet "reminder" - send it along to the women in your life (if you dare! ;-). totally safe for work. xox | |

so, how the heck have you been?

(sorry for such a gross picture - read more about it below!)
yeah... so... the short version is...
heck, there never is a short version, is there?burning man 2006 in sum: my 7th year, wow!; the year of hip-hop and fireworks; the Year of Insight, as coined by me & cheryl... still having insights, so many insights... there's so much to talk about and so little here... everything's always the same... love the people that you love; deal with the stuff you can deal with; chill out about all the rest.... is that really all there is? probably.
the crazy experience of being emotionally and physically close to the most ginormous day camp ever + uncomfortableness at strange concepts, such as the playa's fraternity & sorority + "it's all in the approach" because when it comes down to it, everything is all in the approach = balancing all of that while just chilling and fulfilling... fire dancing (on stilts!) at the burn was super-warm (literally and emotionally) and super-loving... thanks so much to craig and cheryl and garth and jon and robin - my crazy fire friends, whose craziness this year just seemed to be the jelly on my toast - not the main, healthy portion, but a yummy addition, indeed... crazy, amazing times with dave and wow! what we can get through, and wow! how fantastic our relationship can be! ... so much love there... keeping in mind that everything is all in the approach...
definitely The Year of Insight... but apparently not just for me... that's why it's so good to take a breather from performance and get back with my close fire crew on a decompression level... it seems like everybody has needed a chance to breathe...
and it seems like everyone has also needed a chance to BREAK.
laura fell down the stairs last week and messed up her wrist.
jon fell off his stilts last weekend and messed up his knee.
chrystie did something or other while attempting some twisty circus thing.
oh, and that picture above? that's me in stitches.
i had some minor surgery on tuesday - a little basal cell carcinoma removal... that's skin cancer to you yahoo tanning types. that's right - your sweet little pseudo-goth fire spinner used to be a SERIOUS tanner back in the driver's ed days. tanning beds and all. heck - i used to be blonde! hahahahaha! yep, i'll post pictures if i ever get them scanned.
dave has been fantastic during this time - not only cooking me dinner, breakfast, and lunch, but running to the store for pain medication, and generally being an all-around great guy. i don't want anyone to think that being a great guy, to me, means running errands and buying me crap - hardly! ;-) dave has been 1000 ounces of love, safety, warmth, protection, support, generosity, and kindness for every sweet moment he shares.
[insert collective "awwwwwww!" here]
anyway, it's back to SPF 50+ for me these days - don't really want more stitches, that's for sure! besides, pale is really so pretty. but let's call it "porcelain," instead, ok?
it's also back to work, back to training, back to the silly corporate shenanigans... and heading into FALL - yay! which means *surfing*! (once i get my stitches out, of course) and napa (which is always best in the fall)... and crisp days and pretty, early sunsets, and pumpkins, and cider, and halloween, and the day of the dead, and then it's gonna be time to hit the slopes!
life is good. it's all in the approach.
