The REAL rules of writing

From Richard Lewis, Novelist in Paradise (he lives, writes, and surfs in Bali ~ envy!):

"After years in the trenches," he says:

1. It isn’t as it good as you think it is.

2. Other writers are better than you are.

3. If you don’t keep at it, you’re not going to get anywhere.

4. If you don’t read widely, you’re not going to write wisely.

5. Adjectives and adverbs are perfectly fine.
