Spacegirls of the world, unite!

This Raquel Welch "Space Girl Dance" video is hot! She redefines "spacegirl" for all of us spacegirls :-) Whoo-hoo!

The REAL rules of writing

From Richard Lewis, Novelist in Paradise (he lives, writes, and surfs in Bali ~ envy!):

"After years in the trenches," he says:

1. It isn’t as it good as you think it is.

2. Other writers are better than you are.

3. If you don’t keep at it, you’re not going to get anywhere.

4. If you don’t read widely, you’re not going to write wisely.

5. Adjectives and adverbs are perfectly fine.

Thanks for the tips, Richard! I'll get right back to work now :-)

Gettin' crafty

Yay for making stuff! Yay for oddles of time to do so, too. I didn't take pictures of everything I've crafted this winter, mostly because my camera is broken :-( It takes everything upside-down and backwards! And I lost the battery charger, so it's on its last breath for now... But I promised I'd post some pics so you could see, so here you go! They're also up on my Picasa web page ~ if you would rather see them there for whatever reason, click here.

Wish boxes! Filled with magical little deities and other special trinkets. Write your wish down, place it in the box, and sleep with it under your pillow for a month ~ and watch what happens!

The inner workings of a wish box...

Decorated candles ~ these are fun because they can be personalized, too. Bright-colored Mexican candles, decorated with quotes, glitter, ribbon, and more!

Painted jars ~ some are filled with lavender bath salts, others are empty, awaiting something special. What will it be??

A baby blanket and matching hat. I crocheted this for my friend's newborn and she seems to love it :-) The pattern is from The Happy Hooker ~ and the colors match the baby's bedroom! Awww... So easy to make ~ if you have a baby, you just might be getting a hat soon!

None of these are up on my Spacekitten website because they are all gifts - not for sale. However, if you are interested in having some custom-made, I would happily make them and sell them to you (or trade/barter for something super-cool). Just lemme know :-)

Happy crafting in 2008, everyone!

Photos of really old people

I love this!! Portraits of people who have lived 3 centuries - wow. Since I was a little kid, I've always wanted to live to be at least 100 (in a healthy state, of course). I've got so much more living to do! These people are my heroes. What a fascinating photo project!

Check it out here.
